Buck is a product of the public schools of Nazareth, Texas. One of seven children in his family, Buck entered the military service to serve his country in Viet Nam in 1962. Buck served in the U S Army as a crewmember of a helicopter gunship. Buck has a record of heroic service while serving in this hazardous duty.
After returning to civilian life, Buck soon became interested in cotton ginning. He has served as gins superintendent for Windstar since 1980. His role in being responsible for the operation of two, then three, and now four cotton gins qualifies him as being recognized as an excellent ginner and gin engineer by the ginning fraternity in West Texas. Buck served as the construction superintendent for the newly built Top of Texas Gin in 2001 and the gin was built and ran as expected in record time.
Buck resides in Nazareth, is the father of five children, and more importantly, two grandchildren.
